What this covers
Breakers that trip
A breaker that trips again and again is telling you something: an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance or a fault in the wiring. We track down which.
Outlets, switches and lights that quit or flicker
Dead receptacles, switches that don't, lights that flicker or dim, and devices that feel warm.
GFCI and AFCI protection
Adding or replacing ground-fault and arc-fault protection, and finding out why a protected circuit keeps tripping.
Items from a home inspection report
Buying or selling? We work through the electrical items on an inspection report, at one- and two-family homes.
Fixtures, fans and devices
Replacing light fixtures, ceiling fans, receptacles and switches, and adding a few where you need them.
Older wiring
Aluminum branch wiring, ungrounded circuits and knob-and-tube in older homes. We look at what's there, explain what we find, and talk through the options.
If it's urgent
- You see smoke or sparks, or smell burning: leave the house and call 911.
- The whole house or the street is dark: call your utility first. It may be an outage.
- Something is wrong but not dangerous: turn off that circuit at the panel, then call us or send the form.
We work Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and don't offer after-hours service.
Questions people ask
Can you fix just one thing?
Yes. One circuit, one fixture or one list of repairs. If we find something bigger while we're there, we tell you and let you decide.
Do you work on rental homes?
Yes, at one- and two-family rentals, for owners and property managers.
What should I tell you when I call?
What stopped working, when it started, and anything that changed before it, like a new appliance or a storm. Photos of the panel help too.
